26 May 2021To all my friends at Clophill and District Flower Club - May Newsletter Is this the end of May and I haven’t sent you a Newsletter this month? It certainly doesn’t feel like May with warm sunny days, gentle breezes and soft rain! I have been waiting, also, to write to you so that I can include some exciting news to lift our spirits. I am so pleased that some of our members have responded to the flower arranging challenges that I told you about last month. National Flower Arranging Day These are two designs that were created and placed outside to catch the attention of neighbours. Well done to Jan Thomas and Well done to Linda O'Toole Area Spring Virtual Competition ‘The Joy of Spring’ This event was to encourage members to take part in a competition in a more informal way by creating at home and capturing the image on camera at a time to suit them. Once again, I am delighted to report that members of Clophill and District Flower Club rose to the task and gained awards. All the entries can be viewed on the area website www.flowershomecounties.com and it is great to be able to zoom in and see all the beautiful detail that is included in each design. Ann Swain and I are very proud that both Linda and Celia developed their skills at our classes. Linda O'Toole - 2nd Celia Thompson - 3rd Carolyn Cranswick - Highly Commended Last week we were able to hold our first Committee meeting to begin to make plans for the future. It was lovely to meet up with my friends. We are all keen to get started but we must be cautious. We agreed to hold an Afternoon Tea for all members on Thursday 5th August at the Village Hall using the indoor and outside spaces to celebrate our 45th Anniversary and a welcome back to everyone. Please put it in your diary – more details to follow once we know the restrictions have been lifted. With my very best wishes,
Carolyn Chairman of Clophill and District Flower Club
