To all my friends at Clophill & District Flower Club - September 2026 Newsletter

It has been a long hot dry Summer, that has been lovely for some but for plant lovers and gardeners like us it has been very hard and disheartening to see our gardens suffer from lack of water. The hosepipe ban has meant that John and I have spent hours trying to keep somethings going using the watering cans. I am sure my arm is now 6” longer!! But soon we can look forward to cooler days and friendly evenings at our Flower Club.

Our next meeting is on Thursday 3 September with Lee Berrill demonstrating ‘Autumn Tapestry’.  Lee is very creative and one of our favourite visitors. The theme of the Charity table will be stationary ( cards, pens, paper gift wrap , notebooks)

On 1 October we will have another Dabble Evening that is always a night of fun and flowers with friends. There will be 5 activities for you to try incorporating various floral based techniques, all you  need is to bring a pair of scissors. Julie has organised a lovely Charity raffle for that evening.

Looking a little ahead to our Christmas demonstration, on Thursday 3 December, tickets will be on sale at our October  meeting. Lorena Dyer – National Demonstrator will be returning to entertain and inspire us with her title 'Sleigh Bells, Slippers and Sparkle'.

The Area Show and Competition - 'Changing Seasons' a floral art show, will soon be here on 26 September.
​It is at the Marford Memorial Hall, Wheathampstead and will be a great day out with 12 competitive classes with exhibits by talented members for the Home Counties and also a wider area. We are entering a Club exhibit staged by Karen Harwood and Nicky Olden and sponsored by Clophill Parish Council. Good Luck from all of us!!
There is still time for you to enter and it would be great if Clophill Flower Club is well represented. There will be lots to see, a tombola and refreshments served all day.

The Area AGM/Lunch/Demonstration will be held on 3 November at Marford Memorial Hall, with a demonstration by Nick Grounds. Tickets are £25, including a lovely buffet Lunch – these can be booked at the Club..
