Demonstrator: Brenda Tubb Her Title: "Another Fine Mess"
A breath of fresh air blew into the village hall on lst June in the shape of Brenda Tubb from Norfolk.A petite lady with a large personality and a terrific way with words and flowers. She arrived early and promptly set to creating several extra arrangements which she would bring from behind the screens to accompany those that she produced later on stage.
Confirming her comical attitude to life, she gave her demonstration the title “….. another fine mess!” which she said she would remind us of, if we didn’t like what she did.No chance of that! Her designs were enchanting and different and reflected her attention to detail.Brenda did not want pictures published of her designs – but it is safe to say they were beautiful, contained superb flowers and left you wanting more.
While she worked Brenda talked about her family and regaled us with tales of funny moments and memories which had us in stitches. Her very dry sense of humour appealed to us all – as did her arrangements - making her a definite contender for a return invitation.
On 6th July our club night will be “A Feast of Foliage”.A social evening where both members and visitors can chat whilst using their own skills to create lovely designs without flowers. In addition there will be demonstrations on leaf manipulation (plating, weaving, etc.) for ladies to see and try for themselves. This is an art which many flower arrangers use to great advantage – particularly when fresh flowers are expensive. It’s never too late to learn something new. There is no club meeting in August. Our next demonstration is on 7th September when Rehka Naidoo is bringing “A Floral Fairground” to the village hall.Do come and join us - on any club evening – you’ll be glad you did.
