Demonstrator: Barbara Collins
Her Title:  'Oriental Moments'

Picture
Carolyn opened the meeting by announcing some very sad news that a member of the club, Sue Bryce, had sadly passed away.  She was an active member of the club and in the past we had done the flowers for her daughter's wedding. Our thoughts are with her family at this very sad time.

Carolyn then went on to introduce Barbara Collins who proceeded to entertain us with " Oriental Moments " and what moments we had!   On stage we had various statues of Buddha sitting amongst the arrangements all evening also hiding behind the screens was Snap the Dragon, waiting to make his entrance.

To start we had a fan shape in a basket with some
Spruce called Fat Albert, Fats Hedera, contorted hazel for height. Purple liatris, White Narcissi, grey Senecio, white Ranunculus and to finish speckled white Hellebores.

An oblong dish appeared with pink
Cherry Blossom, ferns, along with various spiky mixed foliage, pink Picot double Lilies, creamy green Tulips with a Buddha amongst the greenery.

T
o give us an upright spiral coming down to the oasis, Barbara used Midelino sticks, with green Shamrock Chrysanthemums, low down some Fatsia leaves and green variegated Box, ending with a green gold cloth triangle.

To give a tree effect Barbara used
Mahonia.  Tip, to stop it twisting in oasis wrap an elastic band round the bottom of the stems,  Garrya Elliptica, Palms, Aspidistra, variegated Ramalus, white Cymbidium Orchids, pink Lilies and
Jumbo Pink Tulips were added  to  complete the final arrangement of the evening.
