Demonstrator:  Clare Allen
Her Title:  'Anniversary Jewels'

Picture

Clare Allen – a master florist and winner of many prestigious awards including a gold and a silver gilt at Chelsea – came to Clophill on 7th April and enthralled us all with her demonstration ‘Anniversary Jewels’.  The title was specially selected to be part of our club’s year-long 40th anniversary celebrations and her demonstration proved to be another absolute winner.

The six designs she created were fabulous representations of major anniversaries – silver, sapphire, gold, emerald, diamond and, of course, ruby.  Each design was displayed using very large and impressive containers: a silver (bath shaped) wine cooler; a low sapphire coloured shapely glass dish.  Clare had made a 6” high circular fence by interweaving lichen covered twigs and gold wire which was then sandwiched between two large white discs.  She also used a bulbous emerald china bowl; a sparkling openwork column and, finally, a tall wide necked ruby glass vase draped in netting to which Clare had randomly attached sparkly ruby coloured droplets.

The flowers used were like jewels too as from her boxes appeared lavish delphiniums, antirrhinums, stocks, baby roses, medium roses, full blown roses, mini gerberas, large gerberas, calendulas and giant white hydrangeas.

For her tribute to our 40th year, her Ruby display was ablaze with flame red gladioli, large red anthuriums, exquisite dark red roses, sparkling rose coloured butterflies and large red silk camellia heads which Clare had made herself – all interspersed with the main arrangement and also attached to the netting in a spray down the front of the container.  What a stunner and what an evening! Everyone was delighted but sorry when it all came to an end.

On 5th May we have National Demonstrator David Thomson with ‘Celebrations’ and on 2nd June Kate Thomas will be at the club with ‘Hidden Gems’.  Do come and join us!

Wow it is the most beautiful gift that I have got to see someone giving to the one that is special. It is always good when you are having someone to make love to you in every part of the life till end.
